What Is Demon Slayer About?
Set in Taisho-era Japan, Demon Slayer follows Tanjiro Kamado, a kind-hearted boy whose family is slaughtered by demons. His sister Nezuko survives but is transformed into a demon herself. Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a cure and avenge his family — a journey filled with breathtaking battles, emotional depth, and stunning artwork.
The series ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020 and was adapted into an acclaimed anime by ufotable, which became a global phenomenon. The Mugen Train arc film broke box office records across Asia and North America. For a full series history, see the Anime News Network encyclopedia entry on Demon Slayer.

Collector Tips: Getting the Most From Your Demon Slayer Set
- Start with Volume 1 — the story is best experienced from the beginning for full emotional impact.
- Buy the complete set if you're confident you'll love it — more economical and looks stunning displayed together.
- Read the manga before the anime — the artwork contains details and nuance the screen adaptation compresses.
- Store volumes upright, away from direct sunlight, to preserve spine integrity and page color over time.
